What's New at Vicious Cycle

Craig Walker is no longer with Hellfire Performance.
He's here as Master Tuner for Vicious Cycle.

It's not easy, but we can fit Gold Wings on
the dyno.

Our dyno started life as a Dynojet, but was
upgraded with software, electronics and eddy current brake from T.T.E. Dynostar.
It was not the cheapest option, but during training in The Netherlands (home of
Dynostar) the dynos performed so much better than the competition, it would have
been foolish to go with anything else.
Examples of what we do:

This Electra Glide picked up great midrange punch
once the fueling was corrected and timing given a slight adjustment

This Gen I Hayabusa had an early Carpenter 1363 big
bore kit. It was advertised at 200 hp. The owner found that was only when
returned to him without an air filter in place. With a filter in place
power drops a bunch. We adjusted for the filter and in the end found a little more power on top when
fueling correctly. Even more amazing is that we found a whole bunch more on the
bottom - 20 ft. lbs. torque at 3500 rpm!

This VFR 800 makes more power than a stock Gen I
Hayabusa and gives modern liter-bikes a run for their money. 176+ hp peak
from it's centrifugal supercharger. Compared to stock it makes 150+ hp
when the stocker put out 103hp. With the blower this bike continues to
increase in power all through the rev range. Lots of work into this one.

Hayabusa tuned with ECU Editor. 194.7, 194.5,
194.4 and 194.7 hp. Now that's repeatability.

Do not believe your stock speedometer when quoting
friends about just how fast you have gone. Yeah. We can do speedo
calibration tests too. Got a Speedo healer and want to see if you nailed
the paramaters? We can help.

We have measured as little as 2.0 hp. It was
then quadrupled with a little hot rodding. 88cc piston kit, block, big
valve head, cam, intake and carb, Two Brothers pipe and 10,000 rpm capable
ignition make it fun for adults.
This is the highest mileage bike we've had in here.
There were 94,000 miles on this twin cam 88 Road King. The owner wanted to
tune his bike to match the new cams.
![](RK88%2094k_small.jpg)
It's the Damn Bub's Rhinehart True Dual exhaust. The
outlets are huge and with the cam the air flows in unbelievably after the wave
reaches the end of the pipe. In this case I had to make a new stainless
probe to reach 36" into the exhaust to get the real readings. I can run 12" on
an inline 4 / 4 into 1 pipe and 12-18" on a normal single cylinder/Harley. 36"
is insane - but was necessary.
Once tuned, it ran like it should have run all
along.

This Fat Boy is a beautiful bike. The poor
owner was plagued with a nasty exhaust crackle that sounded like a string of 100
fire crackers lit off every time he backed off the throttle. We managed to
remove the fireworks and found about an extra 9 horsepower in the process.

Mike added long stacks to the intake of his R1
racebike. It would certainly add to the midrange, but top end power should
have suffered. Fortunately, he made some other changes including a
beautiful exhaust that allowed great power, the over run on top and enhanced
midrange. The chart shows previous engine build and present mods. Note
similar power peak, but more power lower in the rev range to allow eyeball
flattening corner exit power.
